Inspired and Determined

Hello, Internet!

It’s been a while since my last post. There’s a lot I need to fill you in on!

If you’ve followed along with my previous posts, you’ll know that my university messed up my financial aid and I’m currently in the middle of an appeal to make them fix it—whoopee. As such, I was unable to return to my university for this semester.

For a little while, I was really disheartened by this. I threw myself into work and sulked and waited (im)patiently for an email over Christmas break that would decide the fate of my college career for this one godawful semester. Only to have my hopes crushed when I was told that they denied my original appeal because, “You gave us the wrong paperwork, even though we didn’t specify what paperwork we needed and just assumed you would know.”

In laymens terms, that’s what the email said. I mean, they pretty much made it sound like it was my fault.

But fuck them.

Look, I have paid and paid and paid (and will probably continue to pay for the rest of my godforsaken life) into these systems of higher education—and goddammit, I will get my higher education.

Don’t let anyone take this away from you.

I went back to the community college I went to before this 4-year university. I figured, “What the hell?” I’ll finish out my Associates of Arts and start working on an Associates of Accounting. I’ll go back to finish my Bachelor’s in Communication—I’m halfway there and have paid so much into it already—I just have to be patient while they determine the fate of my financial aid.

Don’t ever let “the man” kill your shine, friends. Fight them, fight them, for the love of all that is good and pure in the world, fight them.
